From Plant To Dye-Pot A Dyer's Garden Growing Dyes For Natural Fibres Rita Buchanan had been studying dye plants for over twenty years had been growing them for over ten years when she wrote this book. She has used all of the dyes to colour wool other natural fibres spun them into yarn. She sees it as a way of enjoying the short-lived colour of the plants, all year long. The first half of the book covers how to plan your dye-garden, harvesting, how to use plants for dyeing mordants etc. The second half of the book is a plant-by-plant directory, with a picture of each plant, detailing its common Latin name, photos of yarn samples dyed with that plant, a guide on growing the plant, how to use it for dyeing. This was the one of the first books I bought on dying , along with Jenny Dean's Natural Dying (now out of print), it has been the most used. I am not selling my own copy, this is an ex-display book. The layout of the book makes it particularly easy to use. Over 100 pages packed with useful information lots of colour photographs. Well written easy to read. Listed as "used" as it was a display copy, but in excellent condition. There may be a few microscopic marks to the cover. This auction is for one book.
